Certification

Brightline Certification allows an employer to:

  • Distribute its Code of Conduct, employee handbook, and other policies online, and allow employees to view and print these policies
  • Require each employee to attest to receiving and reading these documents
  • Require employees to disclose whether they know of any possible violations of law or policies
  • Provide a means for employees to input a description of possible violations

In addition to its core functionality, employers can combine the Brightline Certification with other innovative online courses, exercises and applications.  For example, employer's can integrate with their certification program:

  • Crack the CodeSM Exercise. This allows organizations to prove that employees have actually read and understood the policies through the innovative Crack the Code exercise.
  • Award-winning online courses on dozens of topics

Online or Phone Access
Employees may complete their certification through either an online or interactive voice response (IVR) system.  In either case, the employee will use a unique identifier(s) chosen by the employer to log in.  The system is very user-friendly and is accessible by blind, deaf, and other users with disabilities.

User access is secured via unique identifying information.  Identification information is validated against the certification database upon login.  Access can be denied after a certain number of unsuccessful login attempts. The system automatically records each user's login with a time and date stamp.

Each employee must complete each question fully before completing the certification.  Once complete, the database records the employee's completion.

For the web-based certification system, employees are able to partially complete and save their progress in the certification program if they need to exit the program.  They can complete the certification at a later time.  Once complete, the employee can print a certificate for his or her records.

Employees can complete the certification by phone through the interactive voice response system.  Their records, including voice recordings of any disclosures provided, are captured in the same database as those employees who complete the certification online.

Available in Any Language
Brightline Certification can be delivered in any language, taking into account various grammatical and cultural adaptations that may be needed.

Employee responses can be translated from one language to another.

Custom to Your Organization
Brightline Certification includes questions that are specific to your policies and the topics that you wish to address.  Your logo, colors, and an introductory video from a senior leader in your organization can also be included.

Immediate Email Notification of Disclosure Statements
If an employee discloses a potential legal or policy violation, the system can send an email notifying the designated official(s) within your organization.  The system also supports email notifications to different people within your organization based on the topic of the disclosure, the employee's location, etc.

The designated officials can access the disclosure, contact the employee who submitted the disclosure, annotate, and close out each disclosure.

Numerous officials can access the same disclosure and add their remarks or investigative notes.  All administrative actions are logged with a time and date stamp. The system automatically creates an audit trail of all submissions.

Easy Deployment of Certification Process
With the Brightline Certification tool, employers can administer certifications on a variety of topics.  Employers can launch a certification campaign to all employees at once or it can be rolled out in phases.

Employers can manage campaigns enterprise-wide or at a department, division, or location level. Managers can assign beginning and end dates of the certification campaign, monitor progress through reports, and send reminder e-mails to employees who have not yet completed the certification.

Employers can add or change users with ease.

Employers can set up automated email reminders to notify employees of the need to complete the certification.  Reminder emails can also be sent to managers whose direct reports have not completed the annual certification.

Easy and Powerful Management Reports
The Brightline Certification's flexible and intuitive reporting capabilities allow employers to view in real time, including tabulation of results:

  • Which employees have and which have not completed the certification process
  • Number and types of concerns or complaints disclosed
  • The exact text of each disclosure statement
  • Number of questions answered correctly and incorrectly, if desired

Employers can sort their data based on any number of variables, including:

  • Date of entry
  • Employee name and/or other personal identifier
  • Employee title/position
  • Department
  • Location (region, country, etc.)
  • Job position

Employers can also view reports on:

  • Which employees have not yet completed their certifications
  • Employee exceptions (all, by question, etc.)
  • Cumulative activity

The sophisticated reporting allows employers to see trends in employee complaints or concerns and respond quickly to resolve any problems.

In addition to the many pre-built reports, customized and custom-built reports can be provided.

Designated officials can access to the reports at any time through a secure identifier and password.

You can limit access to reports depending on access parameters you set.  For example, you can set a parameter to allow regional administrators to only view certifications of those people in their region.

If a client partner also subscribes to our online courses, the certification application can be integrated into the course.  For example, if a client is training its employees with a code of conduct online course, we can insert a link in the course so that the employee must complete the certification before completing the course.

Also, a designated administrator can run exception reports merging data from both the educational and certification applications to determine who has not completed the learning module and the related certification.

Reports can be exported to Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat and other formats.

Dashboards
Summary report data can be displayed in graphical format.  For example, you can view a bar chart to see what % of employees have completed the certification by region.

Secure & Encrypted
The Brightline Certification meets and exceeds industry standards for ensuring your employees access the system and their data is kept confidential and secure.

The system uses permission-based access controls, password encryption, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to ensure that confidential data is protected inside and outside the organization.

Record Retention
The certification servers are fully redundant and all data is backed up.

All employee responses are handled confidentiality.

All records are retained and are available to the employer at any time.

Support
While both the user and administrator interfaces are very user-friendly and intuitive, step-by-step instructions are provided.

Crack the Code Exercise Requires Users to Actually Read Policies
With many certification applications, employees can simply "attest" that they have read and understand the Code or other policies without ever having to demonstrate that they have opened the documents much less read them.

The Crack the Code exercise asks employees questions about specific Code or policy provisions. A searchable, electronic version of the employer's Code or policy is included in the course so that employees can look up the correct answer.

To ensure that the employee doesn't simply guess, the employee must both:

(1)     answer each question correctly, and

(2)     identify the page or provision within the Code or policy containing the answer.

The employee can not move forward in the certification process until he or she gets both components correct.  In the example below, given that there are five possible answers and five possible locations where the answer may be found, an employee who simply guesses would have only a 1 in 25 chance of guessing correctly.
