Course Content and Versions

Training on preventing workplace harassment should not be a one-size-fits-all approach.  Some vendors who have not invested the time or expense in creating location-specific course versions argue that you should provide the same training to all employees nation-wide.  This would result in providing legally insufficient content to some employees and/or providing employees additional content that may not be applicable to them.

For example, California law requires that you provide supervisors two hours of sexual harassment training and that the training must address, among other things, the specific protected characteristics and rights and remedies available under California law. If you provided this training to supervisors outside of California, you would be providing those supervisors instruction on California laws that are not relevant to them, running the risk of confusion and wasting the supervisors' time.  For example, if you provided the California training to supervisors in Connecticut, you may violate Connecticut law by not addressing the specific requirements of Connecticut law.  And, of course, you should not provide harassment training to employees in Canada or other foreign countries unless the training is customized to the country's specific laws.

Similarly, providing the same training to non-supervisors runs the risk of confusing them by teaching them laws from other states that are not applicable to them.  Also, this irrelevant instruction wastes employees' valuable time.

For these reasons, rather than forcing all employees to take a course that is not applicable to them, Brightline has created several course versions to address the specific needs of all employees in your organization.  Those versions include:

Most versions of the Preventing Workplace Harassment course are available in both English and Spanish.

Also, Brightline offers annual refresher courses on Preventing Workplace Harassment to ensure that your employees also receive new and up-to-date instruction on this critical topic.
