Reasonable Accommodation of Religious Practices
Why Train on This Topic?
Federal and state laws prohibit employment
discrimination on the basis of religion. These laws also require
employers to make reasonable accommodations for employees' religious
observances, beliefs, and practices, unless doing so would create an
undue hardship on the employer. An employer's failure to reasonably
accommodate an employee's religious beliefs or practices can lead to
lawsuits and large verdicts and settlements against the employer. In
the past decade, the number of religious discrimination claims received
by the EEOC has increased by over 60%.
Most
employers have adequate policies on reasonable accommodations. However,
such policies are not effective unless all supervisors and managers
have been trained how to properly apply those policies to the
situations that they may encounter in real life. Brightline's online
course, Reasonable Accommodation of Religious Practices,
teaches supervisors and managers the practical skills they need to
confidently and effectively handle reasonable accommodation issues.
